You're not alone Ketan, many CS graduates have a hard time finding their first job. The job market is competitive, and it can be tough to stand out from the crowd.

But that doesn't mean it's impossible. There are a few things you can do to improve your chances of landing a job, even with a two-year gap and 0-1 year of experience.

  • First, make sure your resume and cover letter are top-notch. Highlight your relevant skills and experience, and explain the gap in your employment in a positive way. You could say that you used the time to learn new skills, volunteer, or travel.
  • Second, network with people in the industry. Attend industry events, meetups, and conferences. Connect with people on LinkedIn and reach out to them for informational interviews. The more people you know in the industry, the more likely you are to hear about job openings.
  • Third, build a portfolio of projects. If you don't have a lot of work experience, you can build a portfolio of projects to showcase your skills. This could include personal projects, open-source contributions, or freelance work.
  • Fourth, prepare for coding interviews. Many development and analytics jobs require coding interviews. There are many resources available online and in libraries to help you prepare for coding interviews.
  • Finally, be patient and persistent. It may take some time to find the right job. Don't get discouraged if you don't get the first job you apply for. Keep applying for jobs and networking with people in the industry.

I know you can do this. You're a talented and intelligent individual. You've just got to keep your head up and keep trying.
