Hi Deepak,

For data analyst/business analyst related profile you mentioned above, there are multiple areas of focus for learning which includes:

  1. Developing data understanding (how do you look at data and perform basic data insights) - this is irrespective of the tools /technologies
  2. Data crunching and ETL process
  3. Data explorations ( through statistics techniques and visaulization)
  4. Data Modelling specific to the use case

And having said that, the above steps would require leveraging various tools such as SQL, Tableau/PowerBI, Python while getting well versed with concepts of Statistics and Machine learning.

If you want further guidance, feel free to set up a trial session and we can discuss more around this. Thanks :)

Hi Deepak,

As a Principal Data Analyst at Fortune 1 company with more than 10 years of experience, I can say, for a Data Analyst role, you should be interested in solving business problems from diverse backgrounds.

A data analyst solves business problems from a data perspective and thus has abilities of a Data Engineer as well as some bit of Data Science as well.

If you look it from tool and skills perspective, you can focus on below major points:

  1. Problem Understanding Evaluation
  2. Probable scenarios and deliverables
  3. Data Gathering and Cleaning
  4. Data Analysis - SQL, Python etc.
  5. Visualization - Using Tableau, Power BI etc.
  6. Stakeholder Communication

The major skill that is missing in Data Analysts is the ability to think differently and work on projects that are in unknown territory.

For detailed mentoring, I recommend booking a trial session with me and we can discuss more on your aspirations and way forward.
