Mentee Question

Asked by Sumreen

How can I build a strong DSA foundation in the next 2 months to confidently prepare for Amazon SDE 1 interviews? I know Java basics, but I’m still confused when solving DSA problems. What’s the best way to bridge the gap between theory and problem-solving? I'm preparing for Amazon SDE 1 and I want to build real-time projects, prepare for Amazon Leadership Principles, and improve my DSA skills. However, I’m struggling to stay consistent with DSA and feel overwhelmed at times. Can you guide me with a structured daily/weekly routine that helps me balance all three—DSA, projects, and behavioral prep—without burning out? I’ve heard the Bar Raiser round at Amazon is really important and also a bit tough. Can you give me some tips on how to prepare for it? What kind of DSA and behavioral questions do they usually ask, and how can I stand out in that round?

Building a solid DSA foundation in 2 months is doable with the right consistency and focus on core patterns. It's normal to feel stuck at times, what matters is learning how to approach problems, not just solving them.

Balancing DSA, projects, and behavioral prep works best when there’s structure without burnout. It’s all about doing a bit of each regularly rather than cramming.

The Bar Raiser round isn’t just about hard questions, it’s about how you think, how you handle ambiguity, and how well you reflect Amazon’s leadership principles.

Stay consistent, and take it one step at a time. Progress compounds.

Happy to share a detailed outline and mentor if you need direction!
