Hi Subhra, transitioning from a PeopleSoft developer to a backend Java developer is definitely possible with the right preparation and guidance. Since you already have a strong development background, your focus should be on building solid Java programming skills, understanding backend frameworks (like Spring Boot), and mastering related technologies like APIs, databases, and microservices architecture.

Here’s a roadmap you can follow:

  1. Strengthen Core Java: Focus on object-oriented programming, data structures, and design patterns.
  2. Learn Backend Frameworks: Study frameworks like Spring and Hibernate to handle backend processes and database management.
  3. Database Knowledge: Gain proficiency in working with SQL/NoSQL databases and writing queries.
  4. Microservices & REST APIs: Learn to develop and consume RESTful APIs and get familiar with microservices architecture.
  5. Practice Projects: Build real-world projects to apply concepts and showcase in your portfolio.
  6. Mock Interviews: Prepare through coding practice and mock interviews.

With structured learning and practice, and possibly mentorship, you can confidently switch to a senior backend Java developer role. Let me know how this sounds...

Hi Subhra. Sure, Java is an interesting area to work. It has so much to learn. As you are doing the course, that would be helping surely. There are many good courses in Udemy too for Core Java, Spring, etc. For more, please feel free to connect, to discuss more.
