Mentee Question

Asked by subhadip das

Hello Souvik, I trust you're doing well! I have a background as a Software Test Engineer at a service-based firm, where I gained three years of experience. However, I do have an employment gap of more than four years. Currently, I'm in the process of learning Web Development and have previously prepared for Data Structures and Algorithms. My goal is to transition to a Frontend Dev at product firms. Navigating this transition has been challenging due to a lack of clear guidance. I'm uncertain about how to prepare for these companies since they appear to have distinct sets of expectations. For instance, creating a portfolio that highlights my skills rather than my background is a challenge for me. Given your expertise, do you think I might be setting my sights too high considering my profile? Should I consider re-adjusting my target ? If not, how can I enhance my marketability for SDE 1 Frontend roles at product companies? Your insights would be invaluable. Thanks Subhadip

For Product based companies U need to focus on following things-

  • DSA (till Medium level)
  • Front End concepts - JavaScript, HTML , CSS, React / Angular etc.
  • LLD - Basic.

You should create multiple project on your own. You can schedule a trial session to discuss in detail.
