Mentee Question
Hello, I’m Mudita. I’m a 2024 B.Tech graduate with 6 months of training experience as a Software Engineer Trainee. I’m currently looking for a remote backend developer role and would be grateful for any help or guidance. Could you please let me know if you can provide any support or direction for finding a remote Node.js job?

Don't apply for a specific job. Apply for a software engineer and for that you have to DSA + Projects + Resume + Core Subjects + System Design(If want to switch for sde 2) only.
For that practice DSA from here -> https://topmate.io/rishabh_garg12/1558360
And for getting interview call hacks from every company (V. Imp Sheet) -> https://topmate.io/rishabh_garg12/1650416

Hi Mudita,
Thanks for reaching out, and congratulations on completing your B.Tech and your training experience! It’s great that you’re actively looking for a remote backend developer role — especially with a focus on Node.js.
Yes, I’d be happy to guide you. Here’s how we can get started:
- Polish Your Resume & LinkedIn: Let’s make sure your backend and Node.js skills are clearly highlighted.
- Project Portfolio: If you have GitHub projects (APIs, backend systems, etc.), that’s a big plus. If not, I can help you plan a few solid ones.
- Job Search Strategy: I’ll guide you on where to apply (remote platforms, startups, freelance, etc.) and how to tailor your applications.
- Interview Prep: We can go over common backend/Node.js interview questions, system design basics, and coding tasks.
Let’s take it one step at a time — feel free to share your resume or GitHub so I can give more targeted advice.
Looking forward to helping you land the right opportunity!

Hi Mudita,
Thanks for reaching out—and first of all, congratulations on graduating and completing your 6-month training as a Software Engineer Trainee! That’s a strong foundation, and you’re doing the right thing by actively seeking a remote Node.js backend role.
Yes, I’d be happy to support and guide you.
Here’s how we can move forward:
🔹 Let’s Start With the Basics
We’ll begin by refining your resume, LinkedIn, and GitHub portfolio. These are the three pillars that make the first impression when applying for remote roles—especially as a fresher.
I’ll help you:
- Write a clean, impact-driven resume focused on your backend skills
- Polish your LinkedIn to reflect your goals and experience
- Choose and structure 1–2 strong backend projects (REST APIs, auth, CRUD, etc.) to showcase on GitHub
🌍 Finding Remote Jobs as a Fresher
The market is competitive, but it’s possible with the right strategy. We’ll explore:
- Remote-first job platforms (like RemoteOK, Wellfound, Turing, etc.)
- How to find junior-friendly roles even when the JD asks for “2+ years”
- Smart outreach on LinkedIn (with message templates I’ll provide)
🧠 Interview & Upskilling Strategy
We’ll also work on:
- Strengthening your fundamentals in Node.js, Express, databases, and async programming
- Weekly DSA prep (optional but helpful for some companies)
- Light system design basics—enough to stand out in interviews
✅ What You Can Expect From Me
As your mentor, I’ll:
- Review and refine your resume and LinkedIn
- Recommend project ideas and review your code
- Conduct mock interviews if needed
- Guide you with a job search and application plan tailored to your goals
Let’s work together to turn your skills into an opportunity. You’ve already taken the first step—now let’s build on it.
Looking forward to helping you land that remote backend role soon 🚀
Warm regards,
Raj

Hi Mudita,
Here are a few quick, practical steps:
✅ Polish your resume — Highlight your Node.js skills, any real projects, and use keywords like REST API, Express.js, MongoDB, AWS, etc.
✅ Create a simple portfolio — Even a few GitHub projects can make a huge difference.
✅ Be active on LinkedIn & job boards — Apply daily on sites like LinkedIn, Wellfound (AngelList), RemoteOK, and We Work Remotely.
✅ Customize your applications — Write a short, clear cover note showing you understand the company’s product.
If you’d like, I can help you review your resume, GitHub, and LinkedIn profile, and share some company leads too. Just book a free quick 1:1 session and we’ll sort it out together.
