Mentee Question

Asked by Aamir Fayaz

1. I often struggle with consistency in my study routine and get lost in the overwhelming number of tutorials I've subscribed to. For cracking MAANG interviews, especially the DSA portion (excluding system design for now), is practicing on LeetCode alone sufficient? 2. I hold a simple BCA degree but have nearly 13 years of experience in the IT industry. In your opinion, would my resume stand a good chance of getting shortlisted by MAANG companies in the future? 3. What specific resources would you recommend I focus on for mastering both DSA and system design? Also I am using c++ for DSA at the moment , is that fine?

Yes, practicing on LeetCode is enough for DSA, as long as you stay consistent and focus on learning the patterns behind the problems. It’s easy to get distracted by too many tutorials, so it’s better to follow just one structured plan and stick to it. Your BCA degree won’t hold you back — with 13 years of experience in the IT industry, you definitely have a strong chance if your resume shows your skills and impact clearly. For mastering DSA, you can continue with C++ — it’s a great language for it. For system design, once you're ready, start with beginner-friendly resources like Grokking the System Design Interview or YouTube channels that explain concepts in simple terms.

1. If you have 13 years experience, are you still looking for a SDE 3 role? If yes then Leetcode and High Level System design is all you need and 4 months of consistency. 1 month extra for management interviews.

2. This question would be worrying for you maybe 8 years back, but at the moment its all about your experience. Unless you have a very recent management degree. So dont worry, work on your communication skills, note down your experiences and things you have done for company to use in the interviews.

3. Just any one youtube channel for DSA, 2-3 Youtube channels for System designs, watch repeated content it helps a lot. Exponent is a very good channel for experienced interivews.
