Turning Rejections into Growth: My Career Journey 🚀
A personal journey of resilience and skill-building in backend engineering — learning from rejections and developing confidence, DSA, and system design expertise.
"Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out." — Robert Collier
Taking a career pause to upskill was one of the most challenging yet rewarding decisions of my journey. After years as a Java Backend Engineer in both product and enterprise environments, I chose to focus on system design, DSA, and building scalable backend systems.
The path wasn’t easy — multiple interview rounds didn’t go as planned, and rejections came often. Initially, it was discouraging, but each experience highlighted areas to improve, helping me refine both my skills and approach.
I adopted a structured routine:
- Practicing
- Studying
- Building
Gradually, the growth wasn’t just technical — my mindset shifted, and I became more confident in tackling challenges. I realized that focused, consistent effort over time is what truly drives improvement, even when progress feels slow.
Looking back, the process taught me that progress isn’t always visible day-to-day, but consistent effort compounds over time. 🌱
