Switching jobs can be a big step, especially when you're moving from a job that provides services to one that creates products. I want to share my experience with you – how I made this switch.

The Initial Spark:

Working in a service-based company had its perks – a steady job, clear tasks, and ongoing projects. But there are a few major pain points like low salary and low work-life balance and also the craving for new challenges and the chance to work on cutting-edge technologies motivated me to explore a different path.

Taking Stock of Skills:

Before making the jump, I took a good look at my skills. What was I good at? What could I improve? It was important to figure out how my skills from the service job could fit into a product job. I also spent time learning new things that were important for the kind of job I wanted. This ensured I was ready for the changes ahead.

Connecting with the Industry:

Switching jobs meant stepping into a new industry. To get familiar with it, I connected with different mentors and met people working in product-based companies. Talking to them helped me understand the industry better, its culture, and what to expect. Doing my research on different companies also helped me find the right fit for my values and career goals.

Updating the Resume:

To stand out, I tweaked my resume to highlight the skills that would matter in a product job. I focused on showing that I could adapt, learn quickly, and deliver good results in a fast-paced environment. It was all about making sure my resume told a story of why I was a good fit for a product-based role.

Preparing for Interviews:

Preparing for a product company is a different set of strategies altogether. We need to have a solid roadmap and understanding of the key focus areas. I have gathered all the interview experiences of top product companies and prepared accordingly.

Facing Challenges:

Moving from a service job to a product job has its own set of challenges. Apart from the interview preparation, there are a lot of factors like getting interview calls, making a proper resume, and many more.

If you're considering a similar transition then I will be more than happy to help you in every aspect.
