Here is an excerpt from our interview with Shouvik

                              1. Why did you decide to become a mentor?

Back when I was a fresher there were hardly any resources available to prepare for interviews or level up professionally.

But these days, things have changed.

Today, many people are generously sharing their experiences and knowledge about careers, interviews, and compensation. It's amazing to see how much information is available now.

But I have seen that this information at times can lead individuals demotivated and confused about how to land their dream job.

This is where my experience comes in.

After having worked at several Product Based companies and especially Big Tech companies (FAANG), I am eager to share my insights on how to and how NOT to answer interview questions when you are applying for your dream company.

                              2. How have you benefitted from mentors in your life?

I have experienced a real-time impact in my life as a budding engineer or fresher thanks to the guidance and support of my mentors.

They made me realise that I am capable of achieving anything that I want. The opportunity to grow and learn alongside my mentors has been invaluable.

                              3. What’s been your favourite mentorship success story so far?

One of my mentees has always been very vocal about the importance of mentoring not only in improving his performance and confidence during interviews but also in his development skills within his current role.

He felt he was maturing as a developer and started appreciating his work even better.

                              4. What is the best advice you’d like to give your mentees?

You need to take control of what you want and be willing to make sacrifices to achieve it.

If you want to succeed in interviews for product-based companies and are unsure how to do so, all you need to do is to make up your mind and put in the effort.

A good mentor can guide you but success entirely depends on your efforts, and sooner or later, it will pay off.

They have been my guiding light during challenging times. They offered invaluable guidance, helping me navigate difficult situations and providing me with a fresh perspective on the challenges I faced.

Furthermore, mentors have played a crucial role in boosting my self-confidence. They believed in me even when I doubted myself, helping me realise my true potential.

I am grateful for the mentors who have helped me in my life. They have made a real difference in my journey, and I am a better person because of them.

                                                                3. What’s been your favourite mentorship success story so far?

I met a mentee who was struggling to solve algorithmic problems.

Despite having taken an expensive course, he was still struggling. I realised that he was missing some basic foundations, so we started from the beginning.

After a few weeks, he started to see a big difference. He was able to solve problems that he had been struggling with before. I was so proud to see him overcome the challenges that once held him back.

                                                                4. What is the best advice you’d like to give your mentees?

⭐ Set goals and work towards them:

Having goals gives you something to strive for and helps you stay motivated. When you achieve a goal, it gives you a sense of accomplishment and boosts your confidence.

                                                                ⭐ Be persistent:

Don't give up on your goals, even when things get tough. There will be times when you want to quit, but if you keep pushing forward, you will eventually reach your destination.

                                                                ⭐ Learn from your mistakes:

Everyone makes mistakes, but it's important to learn from them and not let them hold you back. When you make a mistake, take some time to reflect on what went wrong and how you can avoid making the same mistake in the future.

⭐ Don't be afraid to ask for help:

There are people who want to help you succeed. If you're struggling, don't be afraid to ask for help from your mentor, your friends, or your family.

                                                                ⭐ Believe in yourself:

The most important thing is to believe in yourself and your ability to achieve your goals. If you believe in yourself, anything is possible.

Learning from a mentor is an invaluable asset on your full-stack development journey.
