Koushik's Path From Rejection to a Job in Reliance Trends
Know how Koushik went from being rejected 12-13 times due to poor communication skills to building his confidence and getting placed in Reliance Trends.✨
“A rejection is nothing more than a necessary step in the pursuit of success.” — Bo Bennet
Koushik, an MBA aspirant, was rejected by 12 companies in his campus placements.
He was lagging in communication skills, confidence, and behavioural aptitude during interviews.
So, what took him from being rejected multiple times to bagging a job offer in Reliance Trends in his fourth semester of college?
Let's dive into his journey and learn how Koushik transformed his setbacks into success.
When did you first think of switching your job or setting a goal to work in a different company?
I am a fresher and an MBA aspirant.
While preparing for campus placements, I realised that my conversation skills in English, confidence, and behavioural aptitude during interviews were my major challenges.
So, I started looking for online portals that could help me enhance my skills and boost my confidence.
That's when I came across the Preplaced platform and decided to take this opportunity to improve myself.
When did you start preparing for a job, and how did you find Preplaced?
I came across Preplaced in January during my final semester.
I researched the platform, read reviews, and found it affordable with supportive mentors.
That's what attracted me to join the long-term mentorship.
Apart from confidence and communication skills, did you want to improve any technical skills?
Yes, my goal was to become a business analyst.
So, I specifically looked for a platform with a focus on the business analyst domain.
I connected with Vinay Hedge.
He has done a great job guiding and supporting me throughout the journey.⭐
How did your mentorship program at Preplaced help you, and what specific moments impressed you the most?
When I joined the 1:1 mentorship, I shared my lack of confidence and communication skills in the first info session.
My mentor, Vinay, tailored the sessions to address my needs.
We discussed various topics like CV improvement, business analyst skills, and how to develop my confidence.
The main thing Vinay helped me with was speaking in English.
“No matter what you speak, convey your message thoroughly.”, is what he said to me.
The regular sessions and continuous feedback helped me build my communication skills.✨
It helped me gain confidence and coordination skills to work in a team effectively.
Improving your confidence was a major goal for you. How did mentorship help you with that?
Your confidence rises when your mentor regularly converses with you about your progress and keeps giving you feedback! ✨
That is what worked for me.
Vinay's regular validation kept me going.
What did your weekly mentoring sessions look like? Were there any tasks and assignments?
Vinay would set a topic priorly, and we’d dive into it during the session.
So for the first few sessions, we discussed improving my CV, developing my business analysis skills, and working on my confidence.
Then we also covered interview prep; he gave me much insight into interview processes!
You mentioned facing rejection from multiple companies during campus placements. Can you tell us more about that experience and how you improved?
I faced rejections from 12-13 companies in group discussions, aptitude rounds, and final interviews.
After analysing the feedback from my mentor, I realised that my confidence and communication skills were hindering my success.
I’ve been consistently working on these and improving myself.
And finally, I bagged an offer from Reliance Trends within 2 months of my mentorship journey!⭐
How did you feel when you received the job offer? Did you celebrate the success?
Securing a job offer from Reliance Trends was a moment of great joy and accomplishment. 😊
However, I haven't celebrated yet as the offer letter came during my fourth semester.
But I'm really grateful to Preplaced for providing me with the skills and support to achieve this milestone.💫
In a few words, how would you describe your two-month mentorship experience at Preplaced?
I’d say, for anyone who is serious about their career and is looking for affordable career support, Preplaced is a boon.
And the mentors are truly supportive.
I have worked with Vinay, but I’m sure the other mentors are also amazing!
You really feel like they’re in your corner, and they’ve got your back.✨
So, the mentorship experience at Preplaced was supportive, motivating, and transformational for me.
Finally, what advice or inspiration would you like to share with others facing similar challenges in their career journey?
If you are serious about your career, be open to exploring different paths.
Don't limit yourself to just one approach.
Consider online platforms like Preplaced with affordable mentoring sessions and a supportive community.
Stay committed to improving your skills; with dedication and mentorship, you can achieve your goals!✨
